Our mission is to provide our students with a comprehensive education covering all of the topics and procedures they will encounter in their new careers. Topics covered in our course include:

  • Dental anatomy
  • Radiology
  • Dental impressions
  • Anesthesia
  • Medical emergencies

Externship Program

Our 40-hour externship program provides our students with the real-world experience they need to become confident and qualified dental assistants. The externship portion of our course allows our students the opportunity to work under the direct guidance of experienced dental professionals in a local dental office. Students are eligible to begin their externships after class 6.

What Do I Get After Graduation?

Students who graduate from South Bend Dental Assistant School receive their Dental Assistant Certificate from our school.

Additionally, students receive their BLS (CPR) certification in class through the American Heart Association.

A dental assistant in in the state of Indiana must obtain a limited dental radiographic license from the Indiana State Department of Health/Division of Medical Radiology Services.

We assist you in this process by:

  1. We help you obtain your provisional student permit so you can take x-rays at your externship.
  2. We put you in touch with the state radiology department, which helps you take your RHS exam (administered though DANB) and also obtain your Limited Dental Radiographic License.
  3. If you pass the RHS exam on the first try, we will reimburse you for the cost of the exam (upon proof of completion).

The South Bend Dental Assistant School is accredited and regulated by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.

We have dedicated Career Service Representatives to help you find your dream job!

Although we encourage our students to find their own externships, our externship coordinators are here to help our students identify potential opportunities in the area and assist with applications.
